TVS Ntorq 150 could be powered by a new 150 cc engine to compete with Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160 and the likes
For over seven years, TVS has kept the Ntorq series in the market steadily amidst widening the lineup with new variants and special editions. It entered the hotly contested 125 cc sporty scooter segment which has only grown more competitive with new players joining in. Today, it lines up against rivals from Honda, Suzuki, Aprilia, Yamaha and others.
The scooter space over the last few years has welcomed several additions in the 150 cc to 160 cc category. Given the positive response the Ntorq brand has received, TVS looks to be gearing up for an all-new model to rival the Yamaha Aerox 155, the recently launched Xoom 160 and the Aprilia SXR 160 this festive season.
The Hosur-based manufacturer has sent us an official invite accompanied by a teaser which indicates that the long rumoured Ntorq 150 is finally arriving next month. It shows the T signature inside the headlamp cluster flanked by four LED light beams – two on each side. We can expect the upcoming scooter to feature an evolutionary design philosophy compared to the existing Ntorq 125.

Looking at the existing lineup, TVS currently does not offer a liquid-cooled engine below the 300 cc mark. The Aerox and Xoom feature liquid-cooled motors whereas the SXR 160 makes do with an air-cooled unit. TVS could develop a new powerplant drawing cues from its 160 cc motorcycle range though relying on air cooling might see a dip in performance figures when compared to its rivals.
Alternatively, TVS could introduce an all-new 150 cc liquid-cooled engine. Based on the brand’s recent launches, the scooter could be equipped with a host of connected features, a TFT instrument cluster, sporty graphics, split seating, large black alloy wheels, sharp-looking body panels, ride modes, LED tail lamp and turn signals and other modern bits and pieces.

TVS is also expected to launch its first adventure tourer, the Apache RTX 300, this festive season in India.
