Mahindra Vision X concept could give rise to a new compact crossover which could be positioned alongside or slightly in a premium manner compared to the XUV 3XO
Mahindra has lifted the cloaks off the Vision X concept during the Freedom NU event held in line with Independence Day festivities today offering a glimpse into the company’s upcoming SUV design direction for a compact crossover. Sharing the spotlight were the Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT which is another iteration of the Vision T.
Each of these concepts focuses on previewing production versions that will appeal to various market segments once they reach showrooms and they will be underpinned by the new NU IQ platform. The Vision X grabs plenty of attention as it looks almost production ready. However, Mahindra has not shared the technical specification and launch details.
By the looks of it, the Vision X could give rise to a new compact crossover which could be sold alongside the XUV 3XO. The changes of it being a slightly more premium iteration of the XUV 3XO cannot be ruled out of the equation either. We do expect it to compete with the likes of Fronx as it has a sloping roofline with a sporty rear profile.
Up front, Mahindra’s Twin Peaks emblem takes centre stage hinting that the model could fall under the XUV family, though the stylised shut-off grille also leaves open the possibility of it being a new XEV entry. Slim light strips both at the front and rear along with the bumper and fog lamp arrangement borrow subtle elements from the XEV 9e.
From nose to tail, black body cladding outlines the squared-off wheel arches which encase large aero-styled dual-tone alloys. The sides, featuring a silver step plate, display design similarities to the XEV 9e but with deeper sculpting in the door panels, flush door handles, and sharper creases for a sportier appearance.
The NU IQ platform is modular as well as flexible and thus the production-spec Vision S could be offered in multiple powertrain options including EVs. It will likely hit production in 2027 or 2028.
